Jeeperman Front and Rear Bumpers and RockSkidz,
installed on a 1997 Wrangler TJ SE.
By Neil Larson

These were a great addition to my Jeep. Very easy to
install and rattle free. Sammy is actually making me a better brake light, the
one that is installed now is something I threw together for a few bucks from
Bass Pro Shops. It servers the purpose and works OK with the wheels I have now,
but, since I am changing over to a solid dish mag, it won't work then.
Front Bumper
The front bumper is a Ranger, 58" wide with single hoop
and winch mount. This is the standard configuration and comes with four light
tabs. The winch mount will work with a Warn or Ramsey and looks VERY beefy.
Installation was pretty straight forward but needed a lot of muscle. The bumper
uses the factory mounting hardware but is a REAL tight fit with the winch
mount. This took me about 2 hours (before I started on the lights, which is
another story).

Rear Bumper
The rear bumper is Sammy's standard 57" wide with tire
carrier. I had some modifications done here. I added an antenna mount high and
center for my folding whip, I added a lever latch system (because I am lazy),
and I had the tire mount tilted a few degrees to make hanging the tire a little
easier. Sammy makes a Trail Rack that mounts right to the top of the swing,
which I will probably pick up soon. The rear bumper was a breeze to install. It
uses predrilled holes in the frame to double the factory mounting points. 12
bolts total and they come with the bumper. The only drilling required is one
hole on each side, on the bottom of the frame. The tire swing mount to a heavy
duty pivot and you will need a wrench or socket of 1 7/8". I installed the
bumper first then the swing and had to remove the right side rear tail light
assembly. Not hard, but, if you have some help, I would install the swing on
the bumper first and them bolt it all in place. I really like the high position
of the Hi-Lift Jack mount, it helps keep it clean. I also added two, bolted in
place, .50 Cal Ammo boxes with locks to use for tool and accessory storage.
These, I bolted in place in the standard Gerry Can mounts.

RockSkidz
The RockSkidz were the easiest to install. No drilling
required. They use an extremely heavy duty clamp system to attach to the frame
and are VERY heavy. Since I have a small body lift, they do not mount tight to
the body, but, that does not seem to effect there strength. The added steps are
a god send for our short legs.

Summary
I can not recommend Sammy Johnson's part
enough. They are great hardware at a great price. |
